Admissions

Once you make the decision to get help for a substance use disorder, the next step is to contact Shadow Hills Recovery and start the admissions process.

Our San Fernando Valley treatment center makes this process easy. Clients can expect support and guidance right away as our admissions team gathers information and performs an intake assessment.

To help you prepare for what to expect, we’ve broken down the admissions process in a step-by-step manner.

Step 1: Rehab Admissions

Our intake administrator will walk you through the intake process to ensure that we have your medical records and insurance information in order. We understand that this is a big step in your life, and we want you to feel comfortable with your decision. Please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions!

Step 2: Medical Assessment

When we have everything available, you will be given a complete assessment by our Treating Physician. Our world-class staff has decades of experience in addiction treatment and will assess your mental, physical and emotional state. Now is also the time when our doctor may prescribe certain medications for stabilization.

Step 3: Detoxification

Detox is the process of removing drugs and alcohol from the body. You cannot start therapy until you have been stabilized. Shadow Hills Recovery offers medical detox services with around-the-clock support. This process usually takes between 3 and 10 days. Your safety and well-being will be monitored at all times, and we have medications available to treat withdrawal symptoms.

Step 4: Treatment and Therapy

As your physical health begins to improve, you’ll be able to start the next phase of treatment. Included in this phase are screenings for depression and suicidal tendencies, group therapy meetings, Twelve Step meetings, individual counseling, family therapy and more. Treatment is aimed at helping you develop living and coping skills to better navigate the ups and downs of life.

Step 5: Family Education and Intervention

Families are often hurting from the addiction and need support, too. Family intervention helps clients and their families recover together, strengthen their relationships and break destructive cycles like abuse, trauma and codependency. If left untreated, children can learn these behaviors and continue another generation of addicts.
