Treating Substance Use Disorders
Because we are a residential rehab facility, our clients often come to us soon after detox. They are still healing and learning how to exist without drugs or alcohol. To address their mental, physical and emotional needs, our treatment is structured and intense, yet compassionate and motivating.
No two people are the same, which means there is no one-size-fits-all approach to treating addiction. Each client is given a personalized treatment plan that addresses their specific needs, including co-occurring mental health conditions and past trauma. If either of these are present, they will be treated with a combination of therapy and medication.
All treatment plans are designed to be adaptable, as each client heals in their own way, on their own time. What each client can expect is for their treatment plan to include the following:
Evidence-based treatments
Evidence-based treatments are treatments that have been backed by scientific research. These treatments typically include behavioral therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). By participating in these sessions, clients build the skills and habits they need to succeed in addiction recovery.
Holistic treatments
While evidence-based therapies are effective, the Shadow Hills Recovery treatment team believes in the ‘whole-person’ approach, which focuses on the mind and body for complete healing. This is why clients will also have access to a number of holistic therapies to strengthen their recovery such as art therapy, music therapy and breathwork. The hope is that our clients will find activities they enjoy and include them in their own lives at home.
Medications
Our world-class treatment team consists of licensed therapists, certified counselors and nurses who provide around-the-clock care and supervision. We also have psychiatrists and an addiction specialist doctor on staff who can prescribe medications to treat symptoms of depression, anxiety and other mood disorders. Our staff can also watch for adverse effects or drug interactions.
